The Secret Service on Sunday night detained what they believe to be a freelance photographer on the property line of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s summer rental home in Amagansett, East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo said on Tuesday.
East Hampton Town Police were called in to assist the Secret Service on Sunday evening, said Chief Sarlo. However, no criminal charges were filed against the photographer. Due to the fact that no charges were filed, police cannot release the photographer’s name, Chief Sarlo said.
Zachary Krowitz, the press contact for the Clinton Foundation, could not be reached for comment. Nick Merrill, press secretary for the Office of Hillary Rodham Clinton also did not respond to requests for comment.
The former president and first lady have spent summers in East Hampton in the past few years.
Ms. Clinton, a former U.S. senator and secretary of state under President Barack Obama, who is rumored to be a candidate for president in 2016, is scheduled to sign copies of her latest book, “Hard Choices,” at BookHampton in East Hampton Village on Saturday.
