Suffolk Bancorp, the parent company of Suffolk County National Bank, recently reported a net income of $4 million, or $.034 per diluted common share, for the first quarter of 2015. This is a significant increase from last year, when the net income was reported at $3.7 million exactly a year ago. The 7.8-percent increase in first quarter earnings of 2015 versus the same period of 2014 resulted from a $1.2 million increase in net interest income and a $201,000 reduction in total operating expenses.

“We experienced a strong start to the year during the first quarter and I am pleased that we are continuing to benefit from the improving economy in our markets and the success of our aggressive expansion strategies,” President and CEO Howard Bluver said.
