Patricia Schoen Carlson, Formerly Of Southampton, Dies July 19

Patricia Schoen Carlson of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and formerly of Discovery Bay, California, died on July 19 in Murrells Inlet. She was 74.

Born in Southampton, Ms. Carlson graduated from Southampton High School and attended the State University of New York at Alfred. She worked for the New York Telephone Company as an operator and representative in Southampton for several years. After moving to California in 1976, she continued working for Pac Bell in the business office until her retirement in 1998.

She married Rogner Carlson in Hawaii in 2000 and they lived in Discovery Bay. They moved to Murrells Inlet in 2006. Survivors said she loved to dance, sing, go to movies and play mah-jongg, having started and then teaching the group in Murrells Inlet. She also belonged to the book club at Wachesaw Plantation Club.

She was predeceased by her father, Carl Schoen; her mother, Dorothy Schoen; and a granddaughter, Abigail Walpole. She is survived by her husband, Rogner Carlson; sons, Arthur Walpole of New York, Carl Ford of Pennsylvania, Hugh Walpole of California, and their respective spouses. She is also survived by a sister, Carol Schoen Kelly and husband of California; and six grandchildren, Matthew and Katherine Walpole, Hailey and Grace Walpole, and Zane and Remy Ford.

A memorial service will be held in South Carolina at a later date. The Burroughs Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Murrells Inlet is handling arrangements.
