Vito Alamia of Argyle, New York, formerly of New Hyde Park, died on September 26. He was 71.
Survivors said he was a devoted family man and opened his home to friends and family.
Mr. Alamia was the son of the Peter and Mary Alamia, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucy Alamia; and four sons, Vito—a Southampton physician—and wife Lisa, Peter and wife Nancy, Michael and wife Cheryl, and Chris and wife Grace; a daughter, Jennifer Hogan and husband John; and grandchildren, Joel, Anthony, Dana, Michelle, John, Lucia Hogan, Antonia, Lucia Alamia, and Christopher, Jenna, Angelo, Vito, Gabriella, Nicholas and Giovanna. He was predeceased by a son, Anthony; and a granddaughter, Jessica.
A wake was held on September 30 at the Towers Funeral Home in Oceanside. A funeral Mass will be held on October 1 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, in Oceanside, followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
