U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin Calls For State Department Spokesman John Kirby To Step Down

Oct 16, 2015 12:48 PM

U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin did not waste any time after the United States accused Israel of terrorism this week.

On Thursday, he called for the replacement of State Department Spokesman John Kirby, who, in response to reporters on Wednesday, said both the Israelis and Palestinians are, in fact, guilty of terrorist acts.

In recent weeks, seven Israeli Jews have been stabbed to death after Palestinians, many of them young, have taken to the streets with sharp objects in tow. The Israeli authorities have not hesitated to condemn the attacks that have killed innocent civilians, and they have often used forceful methods to do so.

"It is absolutely disgusting and shameful that the Obama Administration not only refuses to stand strong with our ally in Israel, but actually has the audacity to claim that the Israelis are guilty of terrorism," Mr. Zeldin said in a release on Thursday.

The terrorist acts have struck a personal chord for him in that the very streets where Israelis are being murdered are the same streets he walked just two months ago, along with 25 other U.S. Congressmen.

"I'm praying for peace and strength for Israelis to overcome this new challenge. Israel is an important and strategic ally of the United States. The bond should be made stronger, not weaker, from America's response," Mr. Zeldin said.

"We must not turn a blind eye towards the reality that the Palestinian Authority is becoming increasingly controlled by Hamas, a terror group that will not rest until Israel is wiped off the map."

Mr. Zeldin said that Secretary of State John Kerry should also be replaced if he does not discipline Mr. Kirby for his comments.

Well, firing would satisfy that demand, yes?

More troubling is the question of who the 26 U.S. Congressmen are actually serving, Israel of the Americans who elected them. Some may not see the possible conflict here, but it's tricky and Zeldin (who I supported) and the others may need to be reminded of their primary allegiance.

Representative Zeldin is correct on all counts.

"Again, this is not about the U.S. fighting Israel's battles for them. This is about the shameful, reluctance of the Obama administration to strengthen relationships with allies around the globe like Israel because of a twisted understanding of who America's friends are and who are our enemies.”

Obama Spending Deals Have Increased Debt $3,970,023,503,348.07...

And now you know why the "shocked and surprised" expression on the face of the honest hard working American taxpayer has been replaced by a weary vacant "So what else is new?" stare into the deep dark endless abyss.

It is obvious to anyone who watched the CNN debate, Ted Cruz was ignored. Jake Tapper treated Cruz like a third tier candidate both in the amount of time and questioning allotted to him. The circumstance was the same last month, as Meghan Kelly and her panel seemed to be seeking ratings rather than truth in debate. If you’re not going to play into the media’s blood-thirst for ratings, and attack everyone on stage, then Tapper was not interested in hearing from you. Cruz was shafted, ...more

I completely concur with your comment Dan. In addition to ignoring him on the stage, the media has almost universally ignored him in the post-debate coverage. It is up to us Constitutional conservatives, to push his message out to the public. Senator Cruz deserves to be heard and if allowed to air his views, I believe his message will resonate among all of those who are desperate for a real candidate to represent the grassroots Americans who have repeatedly shown their contempt for the establishment ...more

The media is SO mean!

At the next GOP debate, we will allow the candidates' mothers on stage to hold their little hands.

At THAT debate, the first question should be, "Do you know what 'wuss' means?"

Moderator to Cruz (paraphrasing) "i gave you thirty seconds to answer my question about budget deal".....no he didnt, he basically said it was a great peice of legislation, then asked cruz to explain why cruz shouldnt be president because he disagrees with the moderators opinion of the budget... WTF??? these people are shameless...im glad the candidates have been taking it back to them... I think Hillary wrote these questions... every one of them was loaded to the rim... just answereing these questions ...more

MRC president Brent Bozell issued a statement Wednesday night criticizing the overall tilt and tone of the CNBC Republican debate in Boulder: "The CNBC moderators acted less like journalists and more like Clinton campaign operatives. What was supposed to be a serious debate about the many issues plaguing our economy was given up for one Democratic talking point after another served up by the so-call 'moderators.' They clearly war-gamed this thinking that a relentless series of personal attacks on the candidates would somehow drive their ratings and help Hillary Clinton. The CNBC debate will go down in history as an encyclopedic example of liberal media bias on stage. The audience roared its disdain for these so-called 'journalists,' and all of America heard it. CNBC should be embarrassed for their pitiful display of partisan liberal media bias and apologize to the GOP candidates and the American people."

I did what you guys said last night and took a better look at mr. cruz, he seems very qualified and is a very organized speaker and i agree the moderators love to try and minimize his time to speak.

yes mr hat, we know what that word means.

The media does there best to try and limit exposure time for Ted Cruz!

They do this because he knows his stuff and they do not want the public to discover how smart he is.
By Undocumented Democrat (1984), southampton on Oct 29, 15 8:34 AM
The "debate" last night showed the MSMs' extreme liberal bias, fortunately they were called on their Bravo Sierra. Unknown, politically middle of the road moderators would be a much better choice in debates held by both parties. It's not about the moderators, unfortunately last nights' gang is too self centered and self important to realize this.

The republicans should be thankful for the mediators questions. It gave them an opportunity for some of their best sound bites of the evening. This may have been one of the better debates as there were some actual moments of explanation of proposed policies. I was glad they got into their tax proposals and a discussion of what is wrong in Washington. What they didn't get into and what I would have liked to hear was how they thought they might be able to implement their ideas, especially since many ...more

Fox News?

You mean the agency Rupert Murdoch had a little squat to mold, so bull*** could be flung at the American populace? Fox is about as credible a news agency as North Korea is a democracy.

There's a reason it's earned the nickname "Faux News"...

Oh, wait. There are only about four billion IPv4 addresses on the planet. Must be a crapworthy click counter. So it's not the number of people who visited, but the number of times the page was "clicked".

Talk about "clickbait"...

scissorbill
By Mr. Z (11483), North Sea on Oct 31, 15 10:03 PM
definition of scissorbill

a : a worker indifferent to the interests of the laboring class (as one unwilling to join a union)

yes, that would be me, unions will never be happy and they will not stop making demands till they destroy this country

we don't need unions around here people can think and negotiate for themselves
By Erin 27 E (1227), hampton bays on Oct 31, 15 10:56 PM
Then your indifference is not only pathetic, but extremely shortsighted. There are people "around here" who need unions. Retail workers most especially.

You fail to objectify others, and such is a grievous error.
