Stephanie D. Padlo, formerly of Forestville, Connecticut, died at her daughter’s home in Southampton on November 3. She was 87 and the wife of Waclaw Padlo, who predeceased her.
Ms. Padlo was born on June 8, 1928, in Piontkova (Rzeszow), Poland, the daughter of Antoni and Maria Dziepak, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up in Poland and endured the difficulty of World War II and the Nazi occupation from 1939 to 1945, coming to the United States in November 1949.
After briefly living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, she moved to Bristol, Connecticut, found work and went to night school. She married Waclaw Padlo in 1956 and worked at Superior Electric for more than 25 years. With a hard work ethic and embracing the values of family, faith and friends, she achieved the American dream and helped many people do the same, survivors said.
She lived in Forestville for 42 years and liked to sew, garden, go to dances in New Britain with her husband and travel. She was also a member of St. Stanislaus church for more than 50 years.
Due to health issues, she moved to Southampton in 2008 to live with her daughter. Ms. Padlo is survived by her children, Frank A. Padlo and wife Karen Padlo of New Jersey, Patricia A. Wentland and husband Robert W. Wentland of Connecticut, Marsha J. Terry and husband Robert G. Terry of Southampton; sister Susanne Dziepak of Flushing; grandchildren, Madalyn, Abigail and Stephen Padlo of New Jersey, Melanie A. (Wentland) Parker and husband Jarred of Connecticut, Robert P. Wentland of Connecticut, Patrick F. Terry of Southampton, Robert W. Terry of Manhattan, and Margaret M. Terry of Southampton; great-grandchildren Jackson, Meredith and Benjamin Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Genowefa Dziepak and Jozefa Wyskiel, and a brother, Richard Dziepak.
A wake was held on November 7 at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Forestville/Bristol, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
