David J. Weinhardt of Southampton died on November 18. He was 63.
Mr. Weinhardt, affectionately known as “Nubby,” was born in Amityville in 1952 to Arthur Weinhardt Sr., who predeceased him, and Margaret Weinhardt. The family moved in 1957 to Southampton, where he attended Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary through eighth grade and graduated from Southampton High School in 1970. He was an altar boy at Our Lady of Poland and was a Cub Scout. Mr. Weinhardt was a member of the 1969 championship basketball team of Southampton High School.
At the age of 14, Mr. Weinhardt started in Ricks Records, which turned into the Long Island Sound music store, where he worked for more than 30 years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys, New York Rangers and New York Yankees fan and he enjoyed watching golf and other sporting events.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret of Southampton; brothers, Arthur and wife Rose, Mark and Richard of Southampton, and Matthew and wife Lorraine of Riverhead; and sister, Marty of Riverhead. He is also survived by niece Jean Smith and nephew Brian Weinhardt of Riverhead.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 27, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton; interment will follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
