A Riverside man was arrested last week after Southampton Town Police said he sexually abused and injured a 6-year-old girl he knew last month.

Marvin I. Patzan, 26, was located in Riverhead at a job he was working at, brought to Southampton Town Police headquarters in Hampton Bays and arrested there at 8:51 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, Lieutenant Lisa Costa said.

Mr. Patzan was charged with second-degree aggravated sexual abuse, the definition of which includes causing physical injury, a felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

The incident occurred in October at a Riverside residence, detectives said.

He was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside in lieu of $25,000 bail, following an arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Police said they would not release further information on this case based on the sensitive nature of the incident.
