Lawrence Patrick Crowley of Southampton died on December 5. He was 83.
Mr. Crowley was born in New York City and raised in the Yorkville section of Manhattan, attending Regis High School. His parents, Michael and Christina Brazil Crowley, were Irish immigrants and he was the oldest of their four children. He graduated St. John’s University in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree, joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.
In 1958 he married Marilyn Haase. It was around this time that he started a successful career in the field of executive search, ultimately opening his own management consultant firm. He and his wife initially lived in Jackson Heights, where they started a family. After having four children, they relocated to Pelham in 1966. Mr. Crowley built a home in Southampton Shores in the early 1970s where he and his family spent their summers. He retired in 2002 and he and his wife moved to Southampton year round. Mr. Crowley loved sports and was a tennis player, as well as a basketball player. He was also an avid football fan; His favorite team was the New York Giants. He enjoyed reading, politics and gardening but, most of all, spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his wife and a daughter, Karen Crowley. He is survived by a daughter, Kristine Zaneski and husband James; two sons, Laurence and wife Liz, and Michael and wife Mell; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held on December 9 at the Basilica Parish of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
