Lee Zeldin Invites Family Of Fallen Soldier To President's State Of The Union Address

Jan 11, 2016 5:13 PM

U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin has chosen the family of Staff Sergeant Louis Bonacasa to accompany him to the President’s final State of the Union address on Tuesday, according to a release sent from his office.

Usually, congressional members only receive one ticket for a guest, but Mr. Zeldin was able to secure three: Deborah Bonacasa, Staff Sergeant Bonacasa’s wife, as well as both of his parents, Diana and Vincent, will attend.

Staff Sergeant Bonacasa, a member of the New York Air National Guard’s 105th Base Defense Squadron, was one of six U.S. service members killed during a suicide bombing near the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on December 21.

“It is the greatest honor to invite the family of Staff Sergeant Louis Bonacasa of Coram as my guests for the 2016 State of the Union address,” Mr. Zeldin said in the release. “Serving his final tour abroad, Staff Sergeant Bonacasa was a true American hero, and I cannot think of a greater way to honor his sacrifice to our nation. On behalf of all the residents of the First Congressional District, I would like to thank Staff Sergeant Bonacasa for his dedication and sacrifice to our country, and welcome his family to Washington, D.C.”

Good deeds followed by press releases are not good deeds, but selfish ones.

Also, it cannot be all that difficult to go and secure more than one guest ticket, as the article suggests he so courageously did.

Kim Davis AND her lawyer were given tickets. Kind of makes you reevaluate the type of people that get tickets to the SOTU. Anyone that will help a lawmaker win votes gets em...
