Geraldine “Poppy” Feinberg died in Southampton on July 26, 2017, with her family by her side. She was 85.
Born in Manhattan on July 19, 1932, to Anna and Charles DiSalvo, she grew up in Malverne and attended Hofstra University.
She met her husband-to-be on a failed blind date and married Gilbert M. Feinberg in 1955.
Mrs. Feinberg was an avid volunteer while her children were in school, as well as Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was like a mom to many of her children’s friends and made it her job to attend every school sporting event and every horse show her children participated in. She lived an adventurous and spontaneous life on her own terms. She loved the beach and especially loved driving on the beach and sharing that time with family and grandchildren, survivors said.
She loved travel, a great glass of wine, the ocean, family barbeques and family gatherings. She collected sea glass like it was her job. Her favorite things later in life were needlepoint and reading James Patterson novels.
Predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Feinberg; and a sister, Barbara Meier, she is survived by three children, Mayann Weinberg of Connecticut, Douglas Feinberg of Southampton, and Gilbert Feinberg of Florida; six grandchildren; and a sister, Charlene Lerman of Connecticut.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
