ICE Agents Target Sex Offenders On Long Island, Including Hampton Bays And East Hampton

ICE agents arrested 32 sex offenders on Long Island, including Hampton Bays and East Hampton, during Operation SOAR. COURTESY OF U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT
Aug 9, 2017 3:19 PM

A total of 32 convicted sexual predators said to be living on Long Island without documentation were arrested by enforcement and removal officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a 10-day sting called “Operation Sex Offender Alien Removal,” or “SOAR,” which ended last Thursday, August 3.

Among the convicted sexual predators were 12 registered sex offenders, one of whom was living in East Hampton.

The 45-year-old citizen of Trinidad and Tobago previously had been convicted of third-degree rape of a victim incapable of consent, and was sentenced to five years of probation, according to a press release from ICE.

The man, who was not identified by ICE by name, was arrested in East Hampton and will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

ICE officers also made arrests in Hampton Bays, along with other areas in Suffolk County, including Yaphank, Riverhead, Islip and Brentwood. They also arrested individuals in Nassau County.

ICE officials did not provide any details about the individual or individuals detained from Hampton Bays and did not specify if any other people were detained from East Hampton.

Those arrested were nationals from the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Mexico, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Officers targeted undocumented individuals who had been convicted of acting in a manner to injure a child, assault, third-degree attempted rape, burglary, attempted sexual abuse, criminal sex act, endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person, forcible touching, promoting a sexual performance by a child, public lewdness, rape, reckless endangerment, forcible compulsion, and sexual abuse.

All foreign nationals who were arrested will be processed for deportation, according to the ICE press release, which added that anyone who had an outstanding order of deportation who returned to the United States illegally after being deported will be subject to immediate removal. Everyone else is either waiting to face an immigration judge or awaiting travel arrangements for removal.

“ICE’s continuing commitment to making our communities safer is underscored by operations like this one targeting sexual offenders,” Thomas R. Decker, the field office director for New York, said in a prepared statement. “These actions focus our resources on the most egregious criminals and promote public safety in the communities in which we live and work.”

5 years probation for raping a 7 year old? Maybe the judge should be deported?

I challenge any liberal to defend the rights of those illegal fugitive child rapists to live in east hampton so they can mow your lawn while the kids are in the pool.

If you were to get an answer (sometimes they are bold enough), it will usually be something along the lines of {snarky, juvenile tone} "Right, because citizens never commit these crimes".

Only a deranged person would think this

No liberal is attempting to the defend the rights of "illegal fugitive child rapists." Liberals are defending the nonviolent families and children that are being swept up in ICE crackdowns around the country.

This operation was undoubtedly necessary and righteous, but I challenge you to defend the deportation of a college student who was offered a chance at an education, or the family trying to make a better life for themselves.

Pelosi: Sanctuary cities make us safer

New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio told CNN's Jake Tapper that it is OK to shield undocumented immigrants who drive drunk from federal authorities if it does not "lead to any other negative outcome."

Tapper asked the Democratic mayor on Sunday's "State of the Union" if he would comply with federal authorities following President Trump's executive order to halt funding to cities that do not cooperate with immigration officials by presenting ...more

My goodness, SlimeAlive, your ability to copy and paste Fox News articles astounds me.

Nowhere in your copied diatribe is there mention that rapists, murderers, or violent criminals would be protected by any "sanctuary city," or given any legal defense from the city. In fact, your copied paragraphs prove my point.

DeBlasio himself says, "there are 170 offenses in that law that are listed as serious and violent crimes that lead to automatic cooperation between the city of New York ...more

Trump got pounded for this statement, and fact checkers had a hay day looking for every loophole they could find to discredit the reality on the ground. Whether there is a data-based correlation to an increase in crime to illegal immigration is all moot.(unprovable btw since we don't know the number of illegals nor their status in many cases when they commit crimes - thank you Democrats and sanctuary cities.) One crimes (after entering the country illegally mind you) committed by an illegal is one too many.

Who decides which criminal acts are actually heinous enough to deserve deportation? Does driving without insurance -- health or car -- BEFORE an accident warrant the ICE arrest? Or only after an accident occurs? How about being in a car with blood on your clothes after someone is stabbed in Charlie Brown's? How about being underage drunk and disorderly at s Fireman's Carnival? How about showing up at an Emergency Room 9 months pregnant and with no pre-natal care and getting OB/GYN doctors to ...more

Usually it is a felony conviction so a DUI can send them off. Source: me...I just sat on a DUI trial for a first time offender who was an undocumented immigrant (not sure if he cam here illegally but his parents did).

There is no gray area when it comes to rape. Justice Dept. decides when criminal acts deserve attention whether by aliens or citizens. Else we have pandemonium.

That guy is a class act pig!! Ive seen him in action first hand an I'm disgusted he only got 1year. Individuals like this should be put through a rigorous mental examination prior to trial and mandatory counseling should be part of his sentence.
By toes in the water (501), southampton on Aug 10, 17 7:08 AM
That he got off so lightly is as disgraceful and heinous as those listed above in this article. Justice should be blind and equal. As a US citizen he obviously can't be deported but one year is nothing...nothing.

Have you been in a car accident and they run away. You're left holding the bag. Happens very day.How many so called drivers have Illionis and North Carolina plates, If you work here you are to have a New York license...
By knitter (754), Southampton on Aug 10, 17 8:57 AM
Not true. when you move here you are to get a NYS license within 30 days. You can work anywhere and have a license. How many people from jersey work in NYC and vice versa? Students keep their state of residence despite living at school for the bulk of the year.
By Hambone (479), New York on Aug 10, 17 9:09 AM
But they aren't residences of Illionis or North Carolina and we should all have to have a united states citizen card.

Mr Editor,

How come this posting allows comments and the one above it relative to a local contractor who plead guilty to a "low level" charge of sexual abuse ( is there such a thing?) does not. Could you clarify, or better yet, change it?
