Sag Harbor Man Arrested For Inappropriately Touching A Minor At Circle Beach

Sep 13, 2017 10:42 AM

A man was arrested last week for inappropriately touching a minor in August while at the beach in Noyac, police said.

According to the Southampton Town Police, a girl reported that she was touched in her “intimate parts” on August 1 while she was at Circle Beach. The victim—whose age was not disclosed—told police she did not know who the man was, but witnesses identified the man and gave the police his license plate, police said.

After a monthlong investigation, police said, Mark McGarry, 50, of Sag Harbor was arrested by Southampton Town Police at 10:26 a.m. on September 6 at his home and charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child under the age of 16, both misdemeanors.

Mr. McGarry was taken to Southampton Town Police headquarters in Hampton Bays for processing. He was held for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, where he posted $500 bail. He is expected back in court on October 25.
