Nov 15, 2017 9:29 AM

A Quiogue man was charged with three felony counts and seven misdemeanor counts after breaking into a salvage yard on Quiogue and stealing parts from a vehicle on Sunday, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police said an employee of J&V Auto Salvage on South Country Road reported seeing Trevor Harris, 45, removing parts from a vehicle in a fenced-off salvage lot. When the officer arrived, police said, Mr. Harris fled the salvage yard into a neighbor’s backyard, damaging the fence.

Mr. Harris ignored repeated orders to get on the ground, but eventually he was apprehended, police said.

According to authorities, the owner of the auto salvage has an order of protection against Mr. Harris, who was also found to be in possession of numerous tools.

Mr. Harris was charged with third-degree criminal mischief to damage another person’s property, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property valued at more than $3,000 and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies, as well as two counts of third-degree criminal trespassing, and one count each of second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, petit larceny, possession of burglar tools, resisting arrest and second-degree criminal contempt for disobeying a court order, all misdemeanors.

Mr. Harris was taken to Town Police headquarters where he was processed, then held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court in Hampton Bays, where bail was set at $21,350 cash.
