Hilles H. Martin, 78, of Chatham Township, New Jersey, died at King James Care Center on March 20. She was 78.
Born in New York City and raised in Tuxedo, Ms. Martin had also lived in Southampton, Irvington on Hudson and Haddonfield, New Jersey, before moving to Chatham eight years ago. She graduated from the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. Survivors said she was a passionate animal lover and contributed to numerous rescue organizations. She also was an avid reader and history buff. Ms. Martin will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren, said survivors.
Ms. Martin is survived by three children, Tracy Martin and wife Gail, Elizabeth M. Olson and companion Ralph B. Thomas, and Terrence M. Martin and wife Rebecca Stokes; five grandchildren, Alexa, Christopher, Maxwell, Natasha and Peter; and a brother, Stuyve Hamersley and wife Carol.
