DesignHamptons, an interior design show planned to take place on the Southampton Elks Club fairgrounds from August 9 to August 12, has been cancelled, according to show director Sharon Dunigan.
DesignHamptons founder Rick Friedman, who also founded the contemporary art fair ArtHamptons in 2008, declined to comment on the reasoning behind the show's cancellation and whether he plans to revive it in the future. In 2015, Mr. Friedman sold his entire portfolio of art fairs, including ArtHamptons, Art Aspen, Houston Fine Art Fair and Palm Springs Fine Art Fair, to Georgia-based event company Urban Expositions.
This would have been the second edition of the show following its debut as The Hamptons Contemporary Design + Décor Show in 2016. The event took a year off in 2017, and was rebranded as DesignHamptons when it was announced in February that it would return this summer, along with the Hamptons Jewelry Show, also founded by Mr. Friedman.
The inaugural Hamptons Jewelry Show debuted as planned August 2 through August 5 at the Elks Club fairgrounds, and there was no mention of the cancellation of DesignHamptons, which was supposed to be held just four days later at the same location.
