Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Ward Moore, a longtime resident of Manhattan and Southampton, died in her sleep on July 11, 2018. She was 58.
Born on November 20, 1959, she was a graduate of the Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland, and flourished academically. She was an accomplished horsewoman, starting at the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club in Ohio and continuing at Oldfields. Her love of horticulture brought her to a job at the New York Botanical Garden, where she enjoyed all the seasons. She was very talented at needlepoint and watercolor painting, an art she learned from her father.
Survivors said that despite myriad illnesses, she had an amazing, positive attitude.
Ms. Moore was predeceased by her parents, Mary Somers Moore and Joseph Adrian Clairmont Moore. She is survived by her siblings, Christopher Moore, Frederick Moore, Anne Moore and Alison Moore (King Harris); and two nephews, Emerson Moore and Timothy Moore.
