Phyllis Kubaryk, a longtime resident of Southampton, died at home on September 3, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 86.
Born in Brooklyn on June 19, 1932, to Felicia and Tony Palma, she was a graduate of Bryant High School in Woodside. She was predeceased by her first husband, Michael O’Sullivan, in 1952, and remarried in 1955 to Peter Kubaryk.
Mrs. Kubaryk owned The Lingerie Shop in Sag Harbor and worked in local retail for many years, including the family-owned business, Hampton Glass and Mirror.
Her home was a gathering place for friends and family, and all were always welcome there. She was most happy when the seats around her table were full, survivors said. She will be remembered for her courageous perseverance while enduring nine years of dialysis, family said.
Mrs. Kubaryk is survived by her seven children, John of Atlanta, Mike O’Sullivan (Beth) of Sag Harbor, Peter of Annapolis, Rosemary Lange of Hampton Bays, Nancy Dower (Mike) of Florida, Jim (Jean) of Warrensburg, and Paula (Frank) Krzyzewski of Hampton Bays; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Palma Kopsick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was buried at Calverton National Cemetery.
