If you like art and want to learn more about local institutions that display it, don’t miss the upcoming “Road Tour” which will be offered by Southampton Town and the Southampton Arts & Culture Committee (SHACC) on Saturday, May 18.

Led by Southampton Town Councilman Tommy John Schiavoni, artist and SHACC member Jeremy Dennis, and SHACC founding Chair Hope Sandrow, the “Road Tour” begins at 10 a.m. at Southampton Town Hall where participants will board buses and travel to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill followed by the Dan Flavin Art Institute in Bridgehampton.

At the Parrish, museum director Terrie Sultan and artist Jeremy Dennis will lead a tour of the special exhibitions and the current installation of the museum’s permanent collection, “Every Picture Tells a Story,” which includes Dennis’ work.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the Shinnecock Indian Nation by sharing our stories and histories to the large audiences that visit the Parrish Art Museum” said Mr. Dennis in a statement.

At the Dan Flavin Art Institute, part of Dia Art Foundation, guests will be given a tour of the permanent installation by the late Mr. Flavin and artist Keith Sonnier’s installation “Dis-Play II.”

“The Hamptons have a long tradition of cultural excellence and artistic activity,” stated Jessica Morgan, director of the Dia Art Foundation, in a statement. “We are delighted to be part of this initiative that will encourage the community to engage with this rich heritage on their own doorstep.”

The bus tour ends back at Town Hall at 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Southampton Town Board, it is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and reservations are required at (631) 287-5745. Southampton Town Hall is located at 116 Hampton Road in Southampton Village.
