On Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27, from 8:30 to 10 p.m. the Westhampton Beach Project will present its 2nd annual Dance and Music Festival. Organized by the Colucci Musical Mime Theatre, these two free evenings of performances combine opera, ballet and modern dance with the sole purpose of helping aspiring young talent by exposing them to professional performers in the field.

The project is the brainchild of local resident and artist Steven Colucci, president of the Musical Mime Theatre. Mr. Colucci has made it his personal mission to expose the younger generation to some of the art forms he has spent so many years of his life dedicated to studying. The performances are held on the Great Lawn on Main Street in Westhampton Beach.

The July 26 line-up includes: Rioult Dance, a New York City-based modern dance company that presents works of Pascal Rioult; Metropolitan Opera violinist Patmore Lewis who hopes classical music and world beats will spread the word about river conservation; and Janinah Burnett, a notable soprano who is currently appearing as Carlotta Giudicelli in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s iconic musical theater masterpiece “Phantom of the Opera.”

The July 27 line-up includes: Performances by Push Physical Theatre which incorporates intense athleticism, gravity-defying acrobatics, and soulful artistry into its shows; Michael Jackson Jr. and Akua Noni Parker, members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; and a performance by Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and a cooler with refreshments if you like. Reserved seating will be available for a $25 donation. For more information, visit The Westhampton Beach Project at whbproject.com/.
