Southampton Town Police Seek Man Who Caused Damage To Cars In Sagaponack

Sep 9, 2019 10:21 AM

Detectives with the Southampton Town Police Department are working with Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to identify and locate a man who damaged numerous vehicles by placing screws on a street in Sagaponack over the summer.

Police said a man put screws on the street at the intersection of Potato Road and Daniels Road, which damaged the tires of at least six vehicles that ran over the screws in June and July.

An image of the man was provided by Suffolk County Police in a press release on Thursday morning, and he was seen wearing a blue T-shirt, tan pants and black sneakers. The man also appeared to be holding a box of screws.

Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Authorities encourage anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, or to text “SCPD” to 274637. All calls and text messages will be kept confidential, police said.
