Elizabeth Ann Tureski of Southampton died on October 23, 2019. She was 92.
Born in Southampton to Francis and Michalina Powstowski on January 16, 1927, she graduated from Southampton High School in 1945. Upon graduation she was one of the first to be employed and trained as a dial phone operator for the New York Telephone Company.
After raising three children she returned to the workforce as a sales clerk in many local businesses. The youngest of 11 children, she was affectionately known as “Babe.” After retiring she and her husband traveled extensively and spent time with their growing family. Her other hobbies were reading, gardening and bird watching.
Mrs. Tureski was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Wilfred Tureski. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas and Karen Tureski, Barbara and Robert Thompson, Lawrence and Vicki Tureski; grandchildren, Michael, Stephen and Mark Tureski, Anthony and John Monza, Robert Thompson, Nicole and Eric Tureski; and nine great-grandchildren.
Family and friends gathered at Calverton National Cemetery on October 25. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
