Southampton Hospital Employee Lotto Winner Is Revealed

May 16, 2014 10:03 AM

One Southampton Hospital employee’s life changed forever on March 25, when he won the New York Lottery Mega Millions jackpot worth $20 million.

And the winner remained a mystery—until Thursday.

Cameron Finney, 48, of Mastic, an orderly at Southampton Hospital, received an oversized check from New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega the morning of May 15 at the lottery’s customer service center in Plainview. Mr. Finney’s wife, Donna, and his daughter, Christina, accompanied him at the event, where he posed for pictures with the check and a blown-up version of his winning $4 ticket.

Mr. Finney purchased his ticket at Gascon on Old Country Road in Coram and scanned it at the Jackspot! convenience store on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, where he is a regular customer.

The winning numbers for the March 25 Mega Millions drawing were 19, 26, 51, 57, and 73, and the Mega Ball number was 15.

Jackspot! co-owner Howie Frank told The Press last month that Mr. Finney’s reaction to his winning ticket was captured on the store’s surveillance camera—he could not believe his eyes when the register screen told him he had a $20 million ticket in his hand.

At the time, Mr. Frank described the winner as a “down-to-earth” guy who enjoys his job. “He comes in every morning for a coffee and a buttered roll,” he said. “Just a nice guy.”

Mr. Finney did not respond to an interview request.

Newsday reported that with his winnings, Mr. Finney plans to retire from Southampton Hospital next week. He also plans to build a house in East Quogue as a gift to his wife and purchase a new Dodge Ram to replace one wrecked in an accident last year, the newspaper said.

Invest it properly so you and your wife never have to work again. Move out of NYState to a income tax free state so you can keep more of it.

May you and your family enjoy your good fortune. May you be blessed with health and happiness for many years. Avoid those persons who are jealous and are looking for a "hand-out."
