Police Investigating Death At Cold Spring Point Beach

UPDATE: Wednesday, 5 p.m.

The body found at Cold Spring Point Beach this morning has been ruled a suicide, authorities confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Police identified the body found at Cold Spring Point Beach as a man from Southampton, but have not released his name.

Southampton Town Police Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa said the death was a suicide. Detectives are still investigating the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A body was found at Cold Spring Point Beach in Tuckahoe Wednesday morning.

Southampton Town Police at the scene confirmed they were investigating a death, but did not go into further detail. Authorities found one body and a silver pickup truck parked on the beach at the end of Cold Spring Point Road.

Police did not say whether the person was a male or female.

A police tow truck arrived at the beach around 11 a.m. to tow the pickup truck off the beach.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa was not immediately available for comment.

Before sundown I think that the community is owed a police statement indicating if there is any chance that the public is at risk.
