Julie Kammerer, a prominent Manhattan residential real estate broker with Kenneth Ives, Inc. and Douglas Elliman, who was widely known as much for her tireless charity work on behalf of several of the city’s major institutions and community services as for her impeccable taste, died on October 12 at Southampton Hospital after a long illness. She was 84.
Ms. Kammerer was born on July 25, 1930, the daughter of Paul and Agnes Kammerer. She graduated from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York. Survivors said she was witty and well-read, naturally sociable and the epitome of correctness. She also was a generous and loyal friend and a profoundly civic-minded woman, they said. Ms. Kammerer served as a board member of the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering, the Bronx Zoo, the Girl Scouts of America and the Southampton Association. She was a former president of the Garden Club of Southampton and a former president of the New York Junior League.
She was a member of the Colony Club in New York, the Southampton Bathing Corporation, the Meadow Club and the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, as well as the Bath and Tennis Club and the Everglades Club in Palm Beach.
A funeral Mass was held for her on October 17 at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton.
