On September 22, the Old Montauk Athletic Club announced that Amanda Moszkowski and Diane Weinberger, co-coordinators of the Hamptons Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, will be presented with the athletic community service award at the club’s annual awards dinner in early December.
The marathon, which was run on Saturday, debuted in 2007 and has quickly grown to become one of the premier races on Long Island each year. All three races have dramatically increased in size since their inception. The marathon had more than 300 finishers, while the field for the half marathon hovered at about 1,300.
The club will also recognize Sharon McCobb of East Hampton as the organization’s athlete of the year. McCobb has long been among the top finishers in local road races. With a time of one hour,... more
