Teaming Up For A Key Win

author on Feb 6, 2012

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your Super Bowl weekend with your families. Shout-out to the boys team. They suffered a tough loss to Bayport/Blue Point. They had a seven-point lead on them at the half and ended up losing by 20.

They only need one more win to make the playoffs. For my team, the girls team, we need two more wins out of these last three. Last Thursday we defeated Bayport/Blue Point on the road, 47-36. Before the game started the other coach told our assistant coach, Louis O’Neal, that their team isn’t going anywhere but they would love to ruin other teams’ chances for going to the playoffs. I was thinking to myself that that is not going to happen to us. The game was close until we started to pull away toward the end of the third quarter and in the fourth.

At half we were down by one and to start the fourth we were up by one. We knew that we needed this win, especially on the road. In the fourth quarter we went on a 12-3 run and that gave us the lead for good. We had to switch our defense to a 2-3 zone because of foul trouble. When they came back on us, they started to play a box-and-one on me. I looked for my teammates and they were scoring.

I was really proud of the performance Sarah Johnson came out with. This is the second game that she has scored in double digits and played well all around. When the game was close, I just had to keep shooting and attacking the basket and looking for my teammates. I dont think I’ve ever seen Howard as happy as he was when we got the lead on them. With the last two minutes in the game, Sarah Johnson fouled out, so our other big players had to step up and play a huge role. They did a great job, especially in the rebounding department. If everyone plays like they have been playing, then we definitely can win the rest of our games.

In that game I had 21 points and Sarah Johnson had 14.

This past Tuesday, February 7, we had a home game against Shoreham/Wading River. When we played at their school we lost but we were right in the game in the first half. Friday, February 10, we go to Amityville and play at 7 p.m. When we played them home last time, we lost by a buzzer beater. Tuesday, Febuary 14, is our last home game and last game of the regular season. It is our senior night and Coaches vs Cancer Game. Everyone please come and support us. In my next entry I will let all of you know if we make it to the playoffs or not!
