The short history of the East Hampton boys swim program has been a story of a steady climb from a fledgling new program with only a handful of swimmers to a squad this season that had not only talent but depth. If its performance at Saturday’s Suffolk County (Section XI) meet at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood was any indication, the Bonackers are still surely—and certainly not slowly—making their way to the top of the mountain, where they hope to join the elite programs in the county one day.
A good portion of the team competed in the state qualifier meet, and while none of the swimmers made the cut times for states, they certainly made the Bonac presence more than a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it experience.
