Hello Everyone! March Madness is here. If you are a true basketball fan you have been waiting all year for this. My family and I have been traveling across Long Island from game to game. We saw Lucas Woodhouse and Justin Ringen from Harborfields beat William Floyd for the Suffolk County Class AA title. Lucas is a pass-first point guard and Justin can knock down the three. We saw my friend Alex Hampton from Baldwin beat Massapequa for the girls Class AA title. She scored a career high 24 points and it is her third county title in a row.

We also saw Baldwin boys beat Shaq Mosley from Uniondale at Hofstra University. It was an exciting game because Uniondale was undefeated. But the best game was when the Lady Mariners upset the undefeated Class A champion John Glenn for the Small Schools Championship.

Coach Juni rotated our defense from a man-to-man to a 3-2 zone in preparation for John Glenn. At halftime we were up and Coach Juni said it was going to be one of the hardest second halves we would play yet. We played hard and the underdogs came out on top.

Many people underestimated us but we proved them wrong. Our next game for the Section XI (overall county) championship against Riverhead was equally as challenging. Riverhead went up by 12 points in the first quarter. We gave it our all for the second, third, and fourth quarters. We went into overtime but unfortunately, we came up short and lost by two. Congratulations to the Lady Blue Waves for winning the for Section XI championship.

We play Cold Spring Harbor on Wednesday, March 7, for the Long Island Class B Championship. If we win we play
Irvington in the State Regionals on Saturday at Farmingdale State College. Thank you for
all of the love and support we are receiving from our community.

A special shout-out to the Charyse Torrence Tournament champions Devon Trent and my sister, Noel Hodges. Also, a special shout-out to our scorebook keeper, a.k.a. Twizzler Mom, Lisa Goree. As Coach Juni says, “Good, better, best, never let it rest!”
