Esmond M. “Pete” Penny of Hampton Bays died at Southampton Hospital on August 28. He was 90.
Mr. Penny was born on October 22, 1924, to Alexander R. Penny and Aileen (Squires) Penny. He was vice president of the Security Title and Guaranty Company of Riverhead before his retirement. He enjoyed boating and antique cars. He was a member of the Ford Galaxie Club and Potunk Lodge #1071 Free and Accepted Masons in Westhampton Beach for more than 50 years. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a past commodore with the Bullhead Yacht Club.
Mr. Penny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth K. (Lydecker); three daughters, Karen P. Fallo and husband Frank A. Jr. of Hampton Bays, Maureen E.P. Demchuk and husband Bill of Mattituck, and Gale K. Penny of Hampton Bays; and a granddaughter, Tara M. Fallo. He is also survived by a sister, Jeanne McConnell of Hampton Bays.
Visiting was on August 31 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays, with Mason services in the evening. A funeral service took place on Tuesday at the funeral home with U.S. Navy honors; Reverend Lillian Hertel of the Hampton Bays United Methodist Church officiated.
