The Hampton Bays boys basketball team defeated Port Jefferson 51-45 at home last Thursday, January 26, avenging a tough road loss against the Royals earlier this season.
Back on December 16, the Baymen fell 51-48 at Port Jefferson and it ended up being their only loss in league play at the time, prior to dropping a game at Southampton just two weeks ago.
Hampton Bays head coach Pete Meehan said that since his team went 6-2 in the first half of the regular season, their impressive record only affords them two opportunities to improve—and he did not want them to squander their first opportunity against Port Jefferson.
