The two occupants of an SUV that rolled over in Hampton Bays late Tuesday morning were taken to the hospital—one by Police Medevac helicopter, according to Southampton Town Police.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban, who was not named by police, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, and her passenger, who was also not identified, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead via Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance for the treatment of injuries that police said were not believed to be serious.
Town Police Sergeant Scott Foster said the driver was exiting Sunrise Highway Exit 65 south onto Flanders Road when she drove off the road, overcorrected and rolled over shortly before 11:20 a.m.
“I think she was just not paying attention,” he said.
