A Final Farewell

Feb 28, 2012 9:31 AM

Well, this is the last diary I will be writing so I just want to thank everyone. I am so grateful for all the support throughout my basketball career so far. Shout-out to all my teammates from Hampton Bays and my AAU team, the Kendall Madison Playas. You guys have helped me push and grow as a player and I thank you for the opportunity to get to know and play with you all.

Coach John Paga, the assistant for HB varsity and the JV head coach, all I can say is thank you for the energy you brought to my playing. We have been undefeated in the spring, summer and fall leagues while you were coaching so even though there isn’t an award for that, I will always have that memory. Coach Pete Meehan, you have been coaching me since I was in elementary and middle school at summer camps and all through high school. Thank you for working with me and always encouraging me, we had a pretty good run this year! I will miss you coaching me. Also, your motto “What’s Next” will keep pushing me to forget about when things don’t go right and work hard for the future. My dad deserves a shout-out too, coaching me from third through sixth grade and going undefeated in sixth grade! Love you Pops. And of course, coach Nick Thomas, I would not be the player I am without your help and guidance. Good luck in the playoffs, you’ve had a great first season as head coach at Center Moriches and I know it is just the beginning for you. I am looking forward to AAU season where I can play for you again.

All the support from our fans who come to the games or read about our games and congratulate us, I want to thank you on behalf of the team. It’s been an honor playing with my teammates and friends and I will deeply miss these memories! Next year I feel the Baymen will be pretty solid with some talented JV players moving up, so I better be hearing good things about HB! Go get ‘em boys.

My immediate future will consist of doing good in school, working out, getting a job and playing my final season with my AAU team. Then college! I cannot wait to play basketball at the next level. It isn’t ending for me which is a blessing and I really am happy and greatly appreciate everyone who has pushed me to get to where I am today. Never stop pushing or working hard because some day it will pay off. Even though I have had a great season, I wish I shot those extra few shots or stayed in the gym to work out longer; every little thing means something, so go hard every chance you get!

Love you all.
