The Suffolk County Hibernians Gaelic football club is set to host its first ever official match at Hampton Bays High School this Saturday, July 7, at 6 p.m. against Westmeath GAA Club.

The Hibernians public relations officer, Peter Feeney, who is also a player on the team, said it’s sure to be a great game.

“All support will be greatly appreciated as the Hibernians go in search of a first victory on home soil. The concession stand will be open and club merchandise will be for sale,” he said. “Come out and support the Hibernians, your local Gaelic football team on the East End!”

The Hibernians Gaelic football club, made up of a number of East End residents, completed its inaugural season in the New York GAA Junior B Division earlier last fall. It finished the campaign 1-7, but it just won its first match out of four on Monday against current league champion Barnabus, and considering the club had just been formed in March of last year, many involved remain optimistic about its future.

For more information on the club, contact Peter Feeney at suffolkcountyhibernians@gmail.com, or check them out on Facebook at Hibernians GAA Club New York.
