Marilyn 'Chris' Millican Dies May 14

May 21, 2019 4:23 PM

Marilyn “Chris” Millican died in her sleep on May 14, 2019. She was 90.

Born March 21, 1929, she was the daughter of David I. and Etta Christie of Suffern. She was an accomplished piano player and organist, playing for her local church as a young woman. Once she left home, she was employed for several years in the fashion industry at a large department store in New York City.

Her deep affection for animals was expressed through her enjoyment of her little “farm” in New Jersey, where she raised her family, along with an assortment of dogs, horses, goats, chickens and other creatures.

Her later years were spent with family and friends at home on Long Island, planning parties and offering a helping hand to all those around her.

When she wasn’t busy playing golf, skiing or tennis, you could find her sprucing up her home, at the beach playing bridge or visiting friends. She loved to listen to big bands, musicals and was especially fond of Al Jolson and Louis Armstrong songs.

Survivors said, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor, impeccable style, grace and a generous heart.

She is survived by her son, Brady Millican and his children, Ian and Katy Millican; her daughter Christie Wescott and her son Colin Wescott.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Scott Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, or Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.
