Marion E. Malet of Hampton Bays died on September 6. She was 87.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, she graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School. She worked as a secretary in the Chrysler Building before marrying Frank Malet in 1949. She was devoted to making a home for her family. Her husband was a New York City firefighter.
When her husband retired in the mid 1960s, they moved to Hampton Bays, and Ms. Malet went to work as a secretary at Southampton Hospital, retiring in 1989 after 20 years. In retirement, Ms. Malet traveled with her family throughout the United States and Europe. She especially loved visiting France with its art, history and dining. For the past 10 years, she had devoted herself to helping her daughter, Mary, with serious health issues.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank, she is survived by two children, Peter and Mary; two grandchildren, Matthew and Michael; and a brother, Frank Deady.
Visitation was on September 10 at Fairchild and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Garden City. Entombment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
