Kenneth J. Daniels of Moriches, formerly of East Moriches, died at his home on Friday, October 24, after a long illness. He was 79.
Mr. Daniels was a lieutenant in the New York City Fire Department for over 27 years before he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and former commandant of the Marine Corps League.
Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen (Koppelmann); and four children, Kenneth W. Daniels and wife Lynette of Smithtown, Richard “Hammer” Daniels and wife Cathy of East Quogue, Robert J. Daniels and wife Frances of Hampton Bays and Diane Daniels of Hampton Bays. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Visitation was on October 26 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A prayer service, officiated by Father Kevin Thompson of the Church of St. Rosalie, was held at the funeral home, as was a firematic services, conducted by the Quogue Fire Department and neighboring departments. A funeral Mass was held at St. Rosalie’s on October 27. Burial followed at Calverton National Cemetery, with military honors.
