John Dennison Quinn, known as “Jack,” of Hampton Bays died on January 21. He was 88.
Born on June 25, 1926, in Brooklyn, Mr. Quinn was a 1946 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Fort Schuyler and served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. He was a lieutenant in the New York City Fire Department and retired after 38 years of service.
Also devoted to his church and faith, Mr. Quinn, a longtime resident of Beechhurst, Queens, served as an elder of Leverich Memorial Church in East Elmhurst, Queens, for many years. Having visited Hampton Bays for many years, Mr. Quinn retired to the hamlet in 1995 and enjoyed the bays and beaches, as well as working in his garden.
Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife of 63 years, Corrine; two daughters, Susan Tuths and husband Paul of Southampton, Barbara Davidson and husband John of Maine; a son, John and wife Anne of the United Kingdom; 10 grandchildren, Sara, Mary, Beth, Julia, Jack, Nelle, Ryan, Grace, Patrick and Joseph; and three great-granddaughters, Shiloh, Ella and Priscilla Jane.
A funeral service took place on January 26 at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home, followed by interment at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
