author on Mar 12, 2016

A Montauk-registered tugboat sank in the Hudson River north of New York City on Saturday morning after striking a barge at the Tappan Zee Bridge, reportedly killing at least one crew member.

Two other crew members from the tugboat, The Specialist, are missing and still being searched for, New York City news agencies reported on Saturday.

The Specialist is registered to a limited liability company based on South Flint Street in Montauk. The address is that of John Magnaldi, who is also listed as an owner of The Specialist in a 2013 lawsuit.

The Specialist is 84 feet long and weighs 131 tons. It was built in 1954, according to the U.S. Coast Guard registration. It was previously owned by Lake Michigan Contractors Inc.
