The Montauk Artists' Association will host its 22nd annual Juried Fine Art Show this weekend on the Montauk Green featuring some of the best artwork from New York for sale.
“I think this year is going to be just incredible,” said festival director Anne Weissmann. “What an honor it is for Montauk to have these artists come here.”
Approximately 70 artists, who are from New York and several countries, will showcase their works in individual tents scattered throughout the open lawn. Each artist was approved in advance by a jury of professional artists, so guests can expect to see only the finest art and talent on display, according to organizers. The association will also have its own large tent that will showcase works from 20 to 30 members.
The diverse selection of artwork includes jewelry, painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, fiber art and mixed media pieces that will fill the bright white tents and spill out onto the village green. Visitors can take a look in each tent and purchase any piece on the spot that they would want to take home. Custom artwork can also be commissioned upon request if visitors don’t find what they’re looking for at the show.
The profits from the artists' tent rentals will go toward the Montauk Artists' Association to fund the Depot Gallery and its free children's art education program on Saturday mornings during the summer. Although the children's classes have concluded for the summer, the gallery holds other teen and adult classes up until August 26.
The association hosted a similar show on Memorial Day weekend of this year, but members are excited for the original art show that has attracted buyers from New York City and the Hamptons since 1994.
The 22nd annual Juried Fine Art Show will take place on the Montauk Green in downtown Montauk on Friday, August 19, from noon to 6 p.m. and August 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, visit montaukartistsassociation.org.
