MONTAUK — It was a few minutes before midnight Saturday when Ethan Jacob Winter of East Northport, who was celebrating his 21st birthday, was pulled over on Montauk Highway just west of downtown Montauk. According to East Hampton Town Police, Winter was speeding west in a late-model Kia and swerving across lane lines, leading to the traffic stop. Winter appeared intoxicated, police said, and failed roadside sobriety tests, leading to his arrest on misdemeanor DWI charges. AMAGANSETT — East Hampton Town Police arrested Samantha L. Busiello, 31, of Sag Harbor early Saturday morning and charged her with misdemeanor DWI following a one-car accident off Red Dirt Road. According to the police report, Busiello was driving a late-model Tesla sedan west when she swerved to avoid what she described to police as “a tree in the roadway.” The Tesla went off the road, down an embankment, then crashed into another tree, causing substantial damage, police said. A Springs man was arrested by East Hampton Town Police this weekend after police said he slashed an acquaintance with a knife during a domestic dispute. James E. Wilkins Jr., 45, recently of Springs, was arrested on Friday night and faces multiple charges, including two felonies: assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.
