Marianne Ajamy of Montauk died at home on December 27. She was 66.
Born on November 14, 1948, in Port Washington to Joseph and Carol (Beckman) Powers, she earned a bachelor’s degree from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. She married Lou Ajamy in 1974 and the couple resided in Brooklyn, where their first child, Karen, was born, before moving to Commack. In 1976, after the birth of a son, Louis, the family moved to Kings Park, where they welcomed a third child, Jillian. In 1990, the family also became residents of Montauk, with Ms. Ajamy spending summers and many long weekends there as a local artist. She became known to many as “Miss Marianne” at children’s birthday parties, where she did face painting.
Ms. Ajamy is survived by her husband; three children, Karen Kuneth of Montauk, Louis Peter Ajamy of Ronkonkoma and Jillian Ajamy of Huntington; a sister, Joan Powers of Montauk; and three brothers, James, Thomas and Robert. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Katherine and Julia.
A funeral took place on December 30 at St. Therese of Lisieux Church in Montauk. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton.
