John James Stavola Sr. of Montauk died on January 8 at his home. He was 93.
Born in Manhattan on November 4, 1921 to Fillipo and Maria (Lombardi) Stavola, he had lived for 35 years in Montauk, where he retired after working as a construction supervisor with New York Telephone.
Mr. Stavola was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Montauk Friends of Erin and the Boys Club of New York. He served with the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three sons, John James Jr. of Melville, James of Montauk and Daniel of Montauk; six grandchildren, Joseph, Jaime, Lindsay, Jessica, James and Calli Stavola; and a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lucian and Louis; and two sisters, Rose and Antoinette.
A funeral took place on January 12 at the Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton.
