The Suffolk County district attorney’s office is working with police as they investigate five burglaries of artwork from East End homes this winter, including two thefts in Southampton Village.
“This office is assisting the ongoing police investigation,” Bob Clifford, a spokesman for District Attorney Thomas A. Spota, said in an e-mail this week, declining further comment.
Although local law enforcement agencies have said they have noticed some similarities in the thefts, they have divulged few details and have not publicly tied the thefts together. The agencies also have declined to say if they are working together to solve the cases.
