The driver of a black El Camino was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole along County Road 104 in Quogue, according to fire department officials.

East Quogue Fire Department Chief Greg Celi, who responded to the scene along with other members of his department, said the unidentified driver was taken by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue.

Southampton Town Police, who are still investigating the accident, have not released the identity of the driver. On Tuesday, Sergeant Howard Kalb said the 4:30 p.m. accident involved one car.

The stretch of County Road 104 between its intersection with Lewis Road and Old Country Road was closed for about 75 minutes due to the accident.
