Betty Christine (Sahlin) Folks, most recently of Manorville and formerly of Remsenburg, died on November 28. She was 77.
Born November 19, 1936, in Brooklyn, she grew up in Massapequa. She was a teacher in Westhampton Beach and Remsenburg school districts, but her love of design and architecture lured her back to school to earn a design degree from Parsons School of Design in New York. She went on to design and build several impressive homes in the Hamptons.
Survivors said she was a loving mother and friend, talented designer and gardener, competitive golfer, tennis player and skier as well as a fearless globe-trotter. She had a wonderful sense of humor and fun-loving spirit, they said.
Ms. Folks was the daughter of Edward and Eva Sahlin, both of whom predeceased her. She is survived by a sister, Marilyn Winter; her former husband, T. John Folks; and three children, John Folks of Chicago, Christine Folks of Patchogue and Kimberly Folks of Southampton.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 2, at the Follett & Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. A memorial service was held on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
