Paul E. Cox of North Port, Florida, formerly of Remsenburg, died on June 5. He was 70.
Born on December 15, 1943, in Glen Cove, Mr. Cox worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City in financial operations for 35 years before retiring in 2001. While working for Chase he resided in Brooklyn Heights, and he moved to Remsenburg before heading south to North Port in 2006.
Mr. Cox enjoyed outdoor activities, especially golf. Survivors said he was fondly known as the “Big Duffer” and was a member of the Sandbaggers of Sabal Trace in its men’s league and a member of the Sabal Trace PGA (Play Golf Anywhere).
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Sheila Cox; son, Paul “Ted” Cox-O’Shea and wife Shannon Parcells O’Shea; grandchildren, Brady and Charlotte O’Shea; sister, Elizabeth Cox-Kelly; brother, Francis “Towney” Godfrey, and Eileen Roloff, the mother of their children.
