Gary Martin Bloom of New York and Remsenburg died on March 9, after an extended illness.
Survivors said he had a larger-than-life personality and remember him as a sparkling, intelligent, bon vivant friend who loved people, parties, art, clubs, great conversations and being well-dressed. He was director of development for the Urban League and then was a well-respected executive (vice president) with the American Red Cross. He was an active member of the Lotos Club, Doubles, the Dutch Treat Club, the Westhampton Mallet Club, Quantuck Beach Club and American Friends of Blerancourt.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Sara Lieberman Bloom and Jacob Bloom; and by his longtime companion and best friend, William Wolfston, with whom he spent many years traveling and at home in their house in Remsenburg.
Cremation is private.
Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
