Troopers Charge Man With Baseball Bat Attack In Riverside

Oct 26, 2011 10:33 AM

A man was arrested in Riverside on Saturday night after State Troopers said he struck another man with a baseball bat, putting him in the hospital.

Isidro S. DeLeon Galindo, 22, of Flanders approached a 29-year-old man at the Valero gas station near the traffic circle at about 7:50 p.m, and hit him in the face with a bat, police said. The man suffered lacerations and swelling in his face and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment, Troopers said.

The two men had a long-term disagreement, according to authorities. They did not say what the dispute involved.

Mr. DeLeon Galindo was taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

He posted $500 bail following a Sunday arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court and is due back in court on November 22 at 9 a.m., court officials said.
