A Riverside woman threatened another woman with a butcher knife and punched her in the face after a verbal dispute, Southampton Town Police said.

Vanessa Cobb, 54, got into a verbal dispute with a 36-year-old Montauk woman on Brown Street in Riverside at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to police. The victim called police and reported to an officer that Ms. Cobb pulled a large butcher knife and put it up to her cheek before punching her in the face.

Police said Ms. Cobb was arrested at 1:21 p.m. that day, and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, a felony, second-degree menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

Ms. Cobb was taken to Southampton Town Police headquarters in Hampton Bays where she was processed and held for arraignment on Sunday. At arraignment, Ms. Cobb was held without bail and is expected to reappear in Southampton Town Justice Court on Friday.
